What an Art Reach Docent Does
This is a typical work displayed to two 6th grade classes at Mary McGuire School. The docent presents two artists a month, tells of the life and times of the artist. The Art Reach Picture Program is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
I too was an Art Reach Docent for about 8 years and thoroughly enjoyed the program. I loved posing interesting questions especially to the younger students. Some of the extremely abstract pictures I would purposly place upside down on the chalk ledge and haev an entire conversation about what they see. then I would say, "oops, I guess I put it the wrong way..." and then they would come to life with all kinds of otehr imagery!
